About Me:
My name is Jasmine Julianna Johnson, and I am an ultra-contemporary artist currently based out of Western New York. I primarily work in oil paintings, and my work has been published in Nature State of Mind: SUNY Students Reflect on Our Environment. My paintings were also featured in See Through, a student-led exhibition shown in the Cathy and Jesse Marion Art Gallery. My work centers around my experiences and perceptions of the world, analyzing contemporary life through an art historical lens and borrowing techniques from the masters. I frequently incorporate historical references and reinterpret artistic movements, recontextualizing them for the present day. I also explore paper-making and three-dimensional works, and Iām always trying to find a new perspective to observe how art, history, and everyday life intersect.
